The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Safety Act (Act) signed by President George W. Bush December 19, 2007, becomes effective December 19, 2008. The Act addresses single-family residential and commercial (public and semi-public) pools and spas.
This act supersedes pool and spa standards related to protection against entrapment and hair entanglement in the IBC, IRC and the Texas Standards for Public Swimming Pools and Spas. Entrapment and hair entanglement on suction outlets in pools and spas prompted passage of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool Safety Act.
