2012 Swim Lesson Information

  • Associations/organizations are listed in alphabetical order.
  • There are three types of swim lessons:
    • group lessons - ages 3 to adult (minimum required - 4-5 students/1 instructor depending upon facility). Maximum number (5-8 students) depends upon the level of the class.
    • private lessons - all ages (ratio: 1 student/1 instructor).
    • semi-private lessons - all ages (ratio: 2 students/1 instructor).
  • Policies differ for each swimming facility. For example, private lessons and semi-private lessons may be available at your facility, but group lessons and water aerobics may not.
  • Please contact our Swim Lesson Coordinator:
    • If your facility does not have information posted for the programs listed above.
    • If you would like to request that a service become offered at your facility.
    • If you should have any questions or concerns.



GUARD START CLASSES (11-14 year olds)

  • This program builds a foundation of knowledge, attitudes, responsibility and skills for our lifeguards of the future. Students learn about Prevention, Fitness, Response, Leadership, and Professionalism. This program does not provide the information and skills necessary to be certified in First Aid, CPR, AED or Lifeguarding.
  • Prerequisites Swim 25 yards front crawl with the face in the water, breathing to the side or front, Tread water for 1 minute, submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet underwater.
  • This class will be offered at Bridgeland, Cinco Ranch, and Sienna Plantation. Please visit these pages for more details.
